Once again, we are joining Restaurantes contra el Hambre. We do it because it fits the way we understand our business: local produce, respect for people and a commitment to our community.
What is the Restaurantes contra el Hambre campaign?
Restaurantes contra el Hambre (“Restaurants Against Hunger”) is the hospitality charity campaign run by the NGO Acción contra el Hambre. This year marks its 17th edition, under the slogan “Somos de buen comer, somos de buen hacer”, with more than 300 participating venues. Across all its editions, 12,825 venues have taken part and €1.7 million has been raised.
The idea is simple: each restaurant picks a dish from its menu and donates part of its price to the cause, between €0.50 and €2 per dish. Alenar is included in the official list of participating venues, where you can also find the rest of the restaurants taking part.
Alenar’s solidarity dish: Pumpkin Cake with Cottage Cheese and Cayenne Honey
This year we have chosen one of the homemade desserts from our menu: an artisanal pumpkin and cottage cheese cake with a hint of spicy honey.
During the campaign it costs €5.50, €1 more than usual. You add that euro and we add another one: €2 from every cake goes to Acción contra el Hambre.
Where the money goes
In this edition, the funds support Acción contra el Hambre’s programmes in Spain, both against malnutrition and for employment and social inclusion. According to the organisation, this is what different amounts make possible:
- €350 covers a month of healthy food for a family.
- €500 funds 10 hours of business advice for entrepreneurs.
- €1,400 pays for 6 months of a job placement programme.

You have two months to come and try the solidarity cake. We are at Carrer de Martínez Cubells, 6, in the centre of Valencia. We open from 8:30 Monday to Friday and from 10:00 on Saturdays, and we are closed on Sundays.
